DonorsChoose Opportunity

You deserve something great!

The Phoenix Alliance of Black School Educators just found out the Arizona Department of Education is ready to give $1,000 to every Arizona public school educator’s next DonorsChoose project in response to COVID-19!

Here’s the info:

  • Create a project on DonorsChoose using the campaign code ARIZONA
  • In your project, make sure to describe how your request will help your students after the impact of the coronavirus on learning this past year.
  • Once your project is approved, you’ll see your $1,000 in funding right on your project, while funds last. Since funding is limited, submit ASAP for your best chance to get your project approved.
  • This funding is available for only one project per teacher, so make sure to dream big and take advantage of the full $1,000 in supplies you can receive!

If eligible, you’ll see the donation on your project as soon as it’s approved. If you’d like more information, visit the DonorsChoose Help Center.
I’m excited for more teachers to get this funding! Once you post, spread the word with other teachers you know!

Thanks Supt. Hoffman!

Season of Giving Winter 2021 – It’s a Wrapping Party!

It’s the Season of Giving. For the winter quarter, we reaffirmed our commitment to supporting families and educators with a quarterly season of giving. On December 18th, we will host a wrapping party for our Quarterly Business Meeting AND Connect and Grow event. We will wrap gifts for our adopted family and collect donations for our adopted classroom. All donations are tax-deductible. Solano Elementary School in the Osborn School District will host this amazing event for us. The Principal is Lisa Norwood, the current President of Phoenix ABSE. We wanted to use this opportunity to align our initiative with the NABSE priority #3, “Educator Recognition Programs”.

As a part of our QUARTERLY commitment to giving, we are adopting a family from a local school.

But wait we’re not done yet!!!

We are ALSO adopting a classroom to support educators and students. Because we know that around the middle of the year classroom supplies dwindle, your motivation slumps, and the kids go bananas, we decided to adopt a classroom of a local educator. Even if you are NOT a classroom teacher, nominate a classroom in your school choice. If you aren’t selected this quarter, re-apply in Spring Quarter.

Eligibility:

  • Only current, financial memebers are eligible to make nominations for families or classrooms. [If you are not yet a member click here to join or renew your dues. Dues are just $30 for the current Fiscal Year. These Dues help us to be able to support eligible families/classrooms in need.]
  • The family or classroom teacher has transportation to the school to receive the donations [we will give all of the gifts to the family at the school for safety and security purposes]
  • The member nominating the family or classroom MUST attend the November 20th meeting (no exceptions)

We will use a random drawing to select all families and classrooms on November 20th. This ensures equity and fairness for all. After the meeting, the selected member will be notified by email. If you have any questions, please email the Membership Chair, Idenna Russell.

To nominate a family and/or classroom: use the form below!

Mentoring Connections

Join us for our connect and grow event on November 20th at 10:00 am. We will discuss more our mentoring program, “Mentoring Connections” Use the form below to register for the event.

The Phoenix Alliance of Black School Educators is excited to launch our Mentoring Connections Program. We aligned it with Priority 2, “Organize Leadership Development Institutes and Career Advancement Programs” from NABSE. Studies show when educators feel supported, they remain in the profession and attain their career goals. Currently, there is not a program that targets supporting BIPOC educators in the valley. We are excited to be among the first to do so. This program will continue our goals of “Connect, Grow, & Celebrate“. You can the form it , or copy this link into your browser: .
